Hawaii Legislature Considering Ban On Internet Cigar Purchases

The Hawaii State Legislature is considering legislation which would prohibit shipments of online purchases to Hawaii of tobacco products for consumers. Under HR1495, which has already passed with amendments through the House Committee on Health, violation of the ban on online purchases would be a Class C Felony, with fines of up to $5,000 for each infraction, with a start date of 01 July 2017. Hawaii Cigar Association (HCA) and Cigar Rights of America (CRA) are already opposing this bill and working to ensure its defeat.
